I’m sure by now you’ve heard all about OnlyFans deciding to deter from their adult origins, only to delay (sorry, *suspend) their decision.
Don’t celebrate too soon.
Suspend is a temporary term. There’s no knowing how long this suspension will last.

Until OnlyFans make another announcement elaborating on the future of the platform, it may be best to hold off of signing up if you were hoping on becoming an NSFW content creator.
Fortunately, there are a number of alternative adult subscription service providers, many of which offer features OnlyFans lack, such as discover features and clip collections, where users can purchase content without committing to subscribing.
21 Harsh OnlyFans Truths You Should NOT Ignore
Best case scenario? You earn more than anyone you know, buy a house outright, travel the world full time and retire before forty. Worst case? Your failed OnlyFans brings in less than minimum wage, your boss finds out and fires you and now you can’t get a new job...
Regardless of the platform you pick, this post still applies to anyone who is considering becoming an adult entertainer.
Initially, this was written in response to claims of OnlyFans being over due to over-saturation but is applicable to online sex work as a whole.
Hope it helps!
Is it too late to become a sex worker?
“If you’re going to make this account, make it ASAP and milk it as much as you can”
– Top 0.2% creator
“It’s too late to start an OnlyFans now that celebrities are joining”
– Reddit rat
“OnlyFans is oversaturated now”
– Creators who gave up too soon
Be wary of anyone who warns you that:
- OnlyFans is old news
- OnlyFans is oversaturated now
- You can’t compete with celebrities
- OnlyFans isn’t as easy as it once was
- Your competition are years ahead of you
As well intentioned at these warnings often seem on the surface, it’s simply not the case that OnlyFans is too competitive for upcoming creators.
Anyone who tells you otherwise probably doesn’t want you to succeed, which is a little sad.
Of course, this is not always the case.
Sometimes others sincerely feel we should give it a miss so we don’t waste our time or risk future opportunities.
Leading up to my launch, two of my free followers took it upon themselves to tell me it was too late to start.
Even top creators are attempting to put people off what seems to be working wonders for them.
In this post, I’ll be running over some reasons it’s not (and never will be) too late to become an adult entertainer.
We’re high demand, low supply
Societal stigma sucks.
I’m not about to celebrate it, but without it, competition would be cut throat.
Imagine a future where nudes are no longer a novelty, where topless selfies are as accepted by society as bikini photos.
If we woke up to that world tomorrow, we’d all be out of a job.
It would be as hard to grow on OnlyFans as it is on safe for work social media sites.
If you’re among the minority who dare do be different, you’re in a unique position to take advantage of.
OnlyFans is oversaturated
There are more members on OnlyFans than ever before, but the same can be said about any other successful social media site.
Although there’s been a surge of new sign ups since lock down, most new members are actually fans.
The market place got busier and it’s not as if everyone is running towards one stall. Many fans subscribe to multiple accounts.
They aren’t marrying us, they’re here to have fun.
One new creator who joined with the worry that the OnlyFans ship had sailed made more than $1,500 in her first week, landing her in the top 5.9% of creators.
When starting, she anticipated earning a lot less, stating she’d be ‘over the bloody moon’ (now read it back in an Australian accent) if she earned $100 in her first week.
Fast forward two months and it’s now her full time job.
“51 people gave me a chance, I can’t wrap my head around that…If you’re anything like me and you thought that the OnlyFans ship had sailed because of how popular it is now, hopefully this is proof you still have a chance”
Even OnlyFans are telling us its not too late to start, even when we’re not asking.
It was easier for early creators
I don’t deny the advantages early creators were able to exploit, many of them are millionaires now.
Look on the bright side.
Your late start allows to learn from established creators.
There are countless top 0% profiles you can subscribe to in order to see what works well and what doesn’t.
There are also hundreds of free tips and tricks available at your fingertips that weren’t available to them when they started.
I can’t compete with celebrities
Of course you can’t compete with celebrities, but would you want to?
Imagine being scrutinised and slut shamed by strangers on a mass scale.
How about commentary channels capitalising on your name by bitching about you?
Unlike ex Disney stars who are expected to stay asexual as adults, you don’t have an existing image to tarnish.
Rather than sulking that influencers already have audiences, concentrate on cultivating your own.
It’s easier than ever to attract adult audiences, even if you’re starting from scratch.
It’s too competative now
‘It is a very competitive website – there’s a huge surge of creators in this industry’
– Top 0.29% creator
When I was a YouTuber, I used to count my blessings that I started way back when webcams were acceptable equipment.
These days, it’s not uncommon for YouTubers to run their channels from at home studios with top of the range equipment.
Not to mention their teams of researchers, directors, writers, videographers, animators and editors.
When I started, the ideal video length was three minutes. Later down the line it increased to ten.
Back then, YouTube took a 40% cut, now they take 55%.
Ah, the good old days. If I had of started in 2016 instead of 2010, I wouldn’t have stood a chance!
Or at least, that’s the lie I used to tell myself. I didn’t drill it into myself though.
This was a narrative pushed by successful creators whenever they were asked by viewers about succeeding on the platform.
They’d almost make out that they were just extremely lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
There’s no point in starting a channel now, basically.
Sound familiar?
Even writers try to make out it’s too late to begin writing. It’s such a strange claim. There really is room for everyone.
It’ll never be too late to provide value to an audience who are seeking what you offer.
Of course, competition will always increase but that’s no reason not to begin. It just means you’ll need to set yourself aside from your peers.
For best results, brush up on basic modelling, photography, editing and marketing skills.
Summary
To conclude, online adult entertainment has no signs of slowing down any time soon.
Often, creators claiming it’s just too late haven’t given it their all, or gave up before they started.
This type are akin to unemployed people who blame immigrants for their own failures.
It’s not that they haven’t tried, it’s that someone stole the job they had no intention of pursuing.
Rubbish.
If you don’t try, somebody who is more determined will. You cannot hold others accountable for your failure to actualise your goals.
Don’t be fooled by people attempting to put you off pursuing this line of work because they’re worried about competition creeping up on them and stealing their spotlight.
Sex work isn’t oversaturated, it’s just growing exponentially and fans account for most members. The more, the merrier!
Ultimately, your growth does not depend on when you started but how you start and proceed.
The job is yours for the taking. Nobody is standing in your way.
So what are you waiting for?
