Remaining anonymous on OnlyFans is relatively easy when you know how.

Unfortunately, I learned the hard way.

Initially, I assumed remaining anonymous would be as simple as using a pseudonym and hiding my face.

So I picked a stage name, invested in a wig and created a couple of social media accounts for my adult alter ego so she could attract an audience.

Sign up to social media with a new number

Using a pseudonym is useless if your profile is being pushed to your contacts.

To avoid making my mistake, sign up with a new or unrecognised number.

If you can use a different device, even better.

Otherwise, your contacts will be notified that someone they know is new to Instagram.

You’d think this wouldn’t be a problem as a faceless creator, however, your contacts aren’t stupid and they can probably put two and two together if they recognise your body type,  style or name choice.

Choose a pseudonym that can’t be traced back to you

Have you ever read a book by an overbearing author who casts themself as the main character?

They may have used a different name, but it’s strikingly similar to their own .

Maybe their protagonist share their interests and even has the same family history, or lives in the same location.

Don’t make this mistake if you’re hoping to remain anonymous.

Your stage name shouldn’t sound at all like your legal name. Do not use your actual location or share anything that would give you away.

Develop a signature style for your alter ego

She needs to be unlike you in every way.

The mistake I made here was wearing a wig too similar to hairstyles I’ve already had.

Sure, it disguised what I currently look like, but again, it wouldn’t have been hard to figure out it was me even though I hid my face.

Get creative!

Use wigs, masks, flowers and hats to hide your face.

Conceal any tattoos

If your tattoos are in intimately placed and people in your personal life have never seen them, showing your OnlyFans followers obviously won’t be an issue.

If, however, your tattoos are  easily recognisable, be sure to conceal them.

Either pose to place them out of view, wear long sleeves, or cover them with makeup.

Hide your IP address

Going incognito is not enough.

To keep your identity hidden from your free followers and OF fans, you’ll need to hide your IP address with a VPN.

Using a VPN is the only way to browse the internet privately.

Even your internet service provider won’t be able to see what you’re up to or sell your information to third party companies.

You’ll even be able to access OnlyFans with work’s wifi on your lunch break without your boss finding out.

Block anyone you wouldn’t want finding you

On OnlyFans, you’re able to block entire countries as well as specific IP addresses.

Just keep in mind locations can be concealed with a VPN. 

Creative disguises

Come up with a cover

Once you’re earning on OnlyFans, your friends and family may become suspicious about how you’re able to afford x, y and z.

Tell them you’re a freelance writer or social media consultant, these are a little more convincing than becoming ‘an accountant’ without any qualifications.

Utilise props
Think books, flowers, kichen utensils, feather dusters and other day to day items lying around your home.

Hide behind your hair
If your hair is long enough, drape it over your face. If not, wear a wig.

Location, location, location
Don’t just be another naked body on a bed. This doesn’t work as well for faceless creators. Invite them into your room or home in general. You could even rent an airbnb for the night. 

Show the top or bottom half of your face
You can show parts of your face without allowing anybody to realise it’s you, so long as you do not post a mix of eyes and lips. Don’t give them the puzzle to piece together. 

Humanise the digital experience
As always, aim to humanise the digital experience. Fans want to connect with creators on a personal level unavailable to them when they’re consuming free porn.

Let them into your life
This sounds more invasive than it actually is. Just make your hobbies and interests known and they’ll be able to connect with better.

Invite your audience to ask you questions. 

Refrain from posting nudity on public platforms
I’ve mentioned this advice in general Tips & Tricks but it’s even more important as a faceless creator. Put the best you have to offer behind your paywall otherwise you’ll deminish the incentive to subscribe.

Wear lingerie
As a faceless creator, you obviously can’t rely on flirty facial expressions so express your sexual appeal in other ways, such as wearing lingerie or nice outfits you take off in gifs.

Make gifs
Moving images are much more eye catching. Keep in mind potential followers and fans are probably just scrolling endlessly when they come across you. Make your first impression count.

Remaining anonymous on OnlyFans will allow you to hide from friends, family morbidly curious coworkers, ex classmates and obsessive exes.

Conceal your identity from fans
Trolls can still target you online, but they won’t know who they are targeting and can’t come after your family members. Yes, this happens. 

Disadvantages

Future opportunities may be jeopardised
Although remaining anonymous on OnlyFans will allow you to distance your sex work from your current career, future prospects may run a comprehensive background check on you and discover your OnlyFans.

You cannot flirt with your face
You’ll need to come up with other creative ways to flirt without showing your face. Think outfits and poses.

Trolls may detect vulnerability
If it seems as though you’re making every effort to hide who you actually are, Reddit rats may just sniff you out and dig deeper. The harder you try to hide, naturally, the more curious people will become. This is what is known as the Streisand effect. 

You’ll need to take extra steps to protect your privacy
Creators who are happy to show their faces don’t need to make the extra effort of hiding who they are and often have fewer expenses.
