53 OnlyFans Tips For New & Upcoming Creators

OnlyFans is not America’s Next Top Model.

You don’t need to be the best looking person, or even meet societal beauty standards to succeed on the the site.

There are countless creators who are not considered conventionally attractive who manage to make tens of thousands every month.

Just take one look at the inhumanity in the comments section of the video below.

‘Love how “creators” believe their content is worthwhile’

‘I can’t believe men are paying to see this thing’

‘That has an onlyfans? Wow’

Despite being the target of trolls, Megan made it to the top 1% and earns up to £12,000 per month.

Before blaming your OnlyFans failures on losing the genetic lottery, take the time to familiarise yourself with the tips shared in this post.

There really is room for everyone!

It doesn’t matter if you’re big, small, old, flat chested, scarred, disfigured, disabled, white, black, pregnant, male, trans or anything else you think may hold you back.

There’s an audience for every body type, body part, hair colour, fetish and style.

Besides, even if you are model material, looks alone are not enough to succeed.

There are countless conventionally attractive creators who aren’t doing half as well as they could be because their marketing methods aren’t up to scratch.

Their captions are cliche, their price is too high, they’re promoting in the wrong places, showing too much for free, spamming mass messages and making all sorts of mistakes.

Some even scam their subscribers but there’s simply no need to play dirty.

Trust me, YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO DO WELL.

It’s just going to take time and perseverance.

I hope the tips shared here help you identify and overcome any hurdles you may run into on your journey.

If you have any tips you’d like to add that I may have missed, feel free to leave them in the comments section down below!

Getting started

If you’re lucky enough to have stumbled upon this before signing up, you’ll be glad to hear you’re still able to significantly reduce some of the risks involved in early stages and even avoid some of them all together.

Start from scratch

Although it may seem wasteful to wave goodbye to your existing friends and followers on your person profiles, promoting your OnlyFans on Facebook makes about as much sense as selling fur at a vegan festival.

Your family don’t want to see your nudes any more than you want to see the incoming unsolicited dick pics you’re about to be bombarded with.

Sure, some of your classmates and coworkers may be curious enough to subscribe, but snoopers aren’t the sort of fans you should be seeking.

Instead, aim to attract your ideal audience.

More about that in a bit.

Establish realistic expectations

Don’t be blind sighted by sensationalised success stories shared by mainstream media outlets.

It’s extremely unlikely you’ll make millions in a matter of months unless you’re already established influencer or celebrity.

Success takes time.

Define success

What does the word mean to you?

For me, success is being financially free enough to work from home in my own time with no boss to answer to.

If you manage to make more that $180 per month on OnlyFans, you’ll be making more than the average creator. You’d be a success.

Don’t spin a narrative in which you’re only successful if you’re making $100,000 per month.

Although it’s achievable, it’ll take time and consistent effort.

Set and enforce strict boundaries

One thing worth doing before your first shoot is making a list of what you’re willing to provide, as well as anything you’ll refuse to offer under any circumstance.

Whether that means sticking to lewds rather than nudes, nudes opposed to porn, or ruling out certain sexual acts if you produce porn.

Of course, your comfort zone can always change over time and that’s okay. If anything, it’s to be expected.

Just be sure to remain within your own personal boundaries and do not, under any circumstances, break them boundaries to appease your audience.

Invest to evolve

While it’s not necessary to invest in top of the range equipment, it would be wise to reinvest at least some of your initial earnings back into your business.

Reinvesting will allow you to accelerate your growth by upping your content’s quality, which you can pay to be put in front of your ideal audience if you purchase promos from top 0-1% creators.

Follow fellow creators

Follow other creators on their free social platforms, then subscribe to the few that really stand out to you.

What seems to be working well for them? What drew you to them?

Follow ‘failing’ creators as well. What seems to be going wrong for them? How could they improve?

Build behind the scenes

Launching your OnlyFans before you’ve created your first batch of content is akin to opening an unfurnished restaurant with blank menus and empty kitchen cupboards.

Instead of expecting others to subscribe to your empty account, assemble a menu, set the table, stock the shelves and prep your ingredients.

If you’re launching with little or no content, all potential subscribers will see are zeros or low numbers next to your name.

How can they trust they’ll get their moneys worth?

Humanise the digital experience

You’re a person, not a product.

Let your personality shine through your posts and you’ll attract an endearing audience who acknowledge you as an actual human being.

This could mean sharing your hobbies and interests, even if just by using props.

Sell them your personality before you sell them sex.

Grow an audience on a public platform

I go into the ins and outs of marketing methods in a little bit, but you should know that you’re going to need to attract an audience on a free, public platform.

Around 1-3% of your free followers will convert to paying subscribers.

Too often, creators take to Twitter with ‘Subscribe to my OnlyFans!’

As if anyone is going to be tempted to subscribe to a stranger they’re seeing for the first time when there’s tonnes of free porn available at their finger tips.

That’s not how this works.

Successful creators build loyal followings and provide free content on a regular basis.

This content doesn’t need to be pornographic, or even nude.

You just need a strong social media presence paired with thirst traps. You can even do this on safe for work social medias such as Instagram or Tik Tok.

Don’t be disheartened that most people aren’t going to pay.

Your free followers will pay to subscribe if and when they want to.

The more free followers you attract, the more paying subscribers you will gain.

Staying Safe

Use a pseudonym

Using a stage name will ensure your identity is hidden from fans, as well as separate your sex work from your professional and personal life, reducing the risk of jeopardising your job and future opportunities.

Sign up with an unrecognised number

The first major mistake to avoid making if you’re hoping to hide from friends and family is signing up to new socials with your regular number.

Using your regular number can push your profile into recommended for your contacts.

Going incognito is not enough

Going incognito is not enough. Hiding your IP address with a VPN is the only way to access OnlyFans privately.

Start slowly

Starting lewd opposed to nude will allow you to test the waters without fully committing.

You can always increase the intensity as you become more comfortable but you cannot conceal what you’ve already revealed.

If you’re already comfortable with producing porn, by all means, jump right in!

However, it’s not uncommon for creators who jumped in at the deep end to get a fright and flee.

Lewd creators who escalate to nudity or pornography tend to have longer, more successful stays in the industry.

Best Profile Practices

Show them something they’ve never seen before

Do not recycle content you’ve posted on a public platform in your OnlyFans header or profile picture.

If you show them something they’ve already seen, they’ll assume there’ll be more of the same past your paywall.

They’ll have no incentive to subscribe, essentially.

Instead, show them the best they’ve seen from you yet. The posts past your paywall should be better again. You should save the best you offer for PPVs and custom content.

Set a reasonable price

If you’re just starting out and have published less than thirty posts, price your profile accordingly. You can always increase your price as you go, just don’t charge $25 for 2 photos.

Don’t undersell yourself

Remember, it’s not you you’re selling, but your labour and the digital product your labour produced. Be sure to set a reasonable rate.

Don’t overstate what you don’t offer

If you don’t post porn, there’s a way of saying this without putting deprivation at the forefront of the minds of potential subscribers.

Offer subscriptions & bundles

Offering subscribers discounts if they commit to more than a month.

Content Tips

Your phone is fine for now

You don’t need to invest in top of the range equipment when you’re just starting off.

Use the rear-camera

If you’re using your phone, refrain from using the front facing camera as it’s lower quality.

Wipe your phone’s camera lens after each use

It’ll make the world of difference.

Invest to evolve

Again, it’s not necessary to invest in top of the range equipment but once your earning enough, it would be wise to reinvest back into your business to accelerate your growth.

Think makeup, wigs, costumes, lingerie, sex toys, filming equipment, hotel rooms and paid promotions.

Remember, business expenses are tax deductible.

Quality over quantity

Although posting infrequently isn’t ideal, anything is better than spamming a load of low quality posts.

Reinvesting will allow you to accelerate your growth by upping your content’s quality, which you can pay to be put in front of your ideal audience if you purchase promos from top 0-1% creators.

Invest in a ring light

Right lights are one of the most affordable investments for anyone on a budget.

Hand-free selfies

Put your phone down and step away from the mirror. This simply won’t do.

Get yourself a bluetooth selfie timer and a tripod.

Both are inexpensive.

Strike a pose

Experiment with different poses and positions. We’ve all got our favourites but doing the same thing over and over will only become boring.

If you’re stuck on ideas, see what works well in popular NSFW subreddits by sorting by top all time.

Alternatively, reference boudoir or playboy models.

Flirt with your face

Make gifs

Gifs stand out more in social media feeds and are watched for a longer duration, which may give you a boost in the algorithm and expose you to more people.

Keep it consistent

I’m not saying you shouldn’t switch up your style now and then, just that you should keep some elements of your online presence consistent so your audience don’t become confused.

This could mean sticking to a signature style or even just keeping your location or colour scheme consistent.

Diversify your content

Although this seems to run contrary to the tip above, you can diversity consistent content.

Play around with poses, positions and facial expressions.

Don’t always do the same thing but be sure to keep some elements consistent. If that makes sense?

Marketing Methods

Content is king, distribution is queen.

Whats the use in selling lovely lemonade if your stand is hidden down a back ally and made of soggy wood?

There’s no use at all in putting high quality content behind a paywall without promoting it, and doing so properly.

It’d be like recording a new album and not releasing it in on iTunes or Spotify, releasing a movie without a trailer or publishing a book without putting in on shop shelves.

Best platforms for promotion

As there’s no discover feature on OnlyFans, it’s entirely up to you to drive traffic to your profile from external sources.

Reddit, Tik Tok, Twitter and Instagram are your best but you’ll need to make sure you’re sticking to the rules to avoid being banned, especially on safe for work platforms.

Avoid sounding sales like

One of the worst marketing mistakes you can make is appearing to be a marketer.

Don’t push your profile, you’ll only seem desperate.

This isn’t exactly a turn on.

Be human

Potential subscribers need to know they won’t be wasting their hard earned cash. They want to connect to creators, so let them know you’ll reply to them in your bio.

You don’t need to reply to every message but at least reply to everyone.

Accessibility is one of your profile’s main selling points.

Nourish your free followers

Rather than using social media sites to promote your OnlyFans, see them as places to attract an audience.

Create a community of people who appreciate your posts. They’ll subscribe if and when they want to.

Only a small amount (around 1-3%) of your free followers will convert to paying fans but the more free followers you have, the more paying subscribers you’ll gain.

Don’t show too much for free

Doing so will be detrimental to you conversion rate. Why would they subscribe if they can scroll through your content for free?

Use captions to inspire curiosity and flirt with your face.

If you’re a non-nude creator, keep more clothes on in your promotions and wear less on OnlyFans.

If you’re a nude creator, keep your nudes hidden behind your paywall and promote wearing lingerie or bikinis.

If you post porn, you could post nudes or promote the same way a nude creator should.

Turn your DMs off

Again, accessibility is one of your profile’s main selling points so refrain from spending time replying to people outside of OnlyFans.

Reply to all public comments

Responding to comments will entice potential subscribers as they won’t want to just communicate with you in the comments.

It’ll also encourage other community members to comment, which will boost you in the algorithm.

Gradually increase your price

If you insist on launching without any posts, be sure to set your subscription a little lower than what it will be once you’re properly up and running.

Don’t spam other creator’s comments

Just don’t. It’s bad etiquette and down right rude. Don’t.

Time management tips

Batch create

Creating your content for the month ahead in a few days will free up your time and enable you to focus on other areas of your life.

Schedule posts

Once you’ve batch created your content for the week or month ahead, you can use the OnlyFans scheduler to line your posts up.

Most social media platforms don’t have scheduling features, which is where tools like Tailwind and Hootsuite come in handy.

Are you neuro-divergent and/or executively dysfunctional?

I ask because some on the spectrum and those with ADHD often struggle to meet deadlines.

Of course, that’s not to say neuro-divergence is necessarily a hinderance. If anything, it can come in extremely handy in this industry!

However, if you struggle to do things under pressure or meet strict deadlines, you may want to lighten your workload by avoiding offering custom content.

Mental health & well being

Don’t compare yourself to others

Keep your head down and stay in your own lane.

Don’t look back to see who is behind you or ahead to see who is doing better than you.

Instead, aim to improve yesterday’s you. It’s all you can do.

Ignore ignorance

People have all sorts of silly ideas about OnlyFans creators in their heads.

OnlyFans is easy, OnlyFans is disgusting, you do this for attention,  you’re desperate for money, you’re uneducated, you have no morals, you’re a bad parent/daughter/sister/role model, blah blah blah.

None of it matters because none of it is true.

Try as much as you like, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to change the minds of those who are this bitter about the success of others.

Often, that’s all it is.

Can you say you wouldn’t be mad if you were a balding obese bloke with nothing going for you other than selling stolen goods?

Just move on with your day.

Don’t even bother biting back, it’ll only bring them satisfaction to know they’re getting a rise out of you.

Don’t be a people pleaser

If somebody breaks a boundary, block them!

Don’t give demanding or rude subscribers second or third chances. Kick them to the curb and don’t let them come back.

Preventing burn out

OnlyFans can be exhausting.

The constant content creating, editing, marketing, interacting with fans and handling hate has a way of taking a toll on mental health.

If you find your stress and anxiety levels increasing, you may want to consider dialling things back.

Reducing your workload may mean you make less, but isn’t necessarily the case if you work smarter, rather than harder.

Social media schedulers

Social medias schedulers are a God send for preventing burn out.

Tools like Tailwind enable you to schedule your posts in advance so you can sit back and relax while they roll out.

With Tailwind, you can avoid the never ending scrolling through social media.

You won’t have to come into contact with creators who are so hot they burn your self esteem away.

You won’t be bothered by ignorant remarks tweeted at you because you simply won’t see them.

If you schedule your posts ahead of time, you could be spending time with your significant other on a much needed date night when your content is scheduled and nobody will know you’re not there.

Take the weekends off

Yes, really. You’re allowed!

Work 9-5 Monday to Friday and do whatever you want on the weekends.

Trust me, your results will improve if you allow yourself to take the weekends off as your mind will have time to rest, recover and think of better ideas for the upcoming week.

Without weekend breaks, you’re bound to burn out.

It’s okay to take a break

Hopefully, taking weekends off will reduce the need to take a long break but if you reach burn out regardless, take a break.

Ideally, you’ll have a batch of content to fall back on but don’t worry if don’t.

Just be sure to let your OnlyFans subscribers know that you’re going to be away for x days and that you’ll reward them with a treat when you return.

You could even offer them a discount on next month’s subscription if you’re away for more than a week so they get their money’s worth.

It’s okay to change your mind

Your decision to become an OnlyFans creator is not set in stone.

Don’t be so stubborn to ignore your gut instinct if you know it’s in your best interest to pursue something else instead.

Regardless of your reason for wanting to leave the platform, there’s no shame in it.

Whether you’ve had enough of trolls, relapsed into an eating disorder, developed an addiction or became so stressed you can’t sleep, do what you have to do.

If you need to leave, please leave.

I wish you all the best ♥️
